Sound designer based in New York City.

I graduated from Full Sail University in Orlando in 2007 with an Associates Degree in Recording Arts. I started the program intending to record musicians in a studio but, after my first taste of Post-Production, quickly became immersed in film. From there, I became the guy who straps wireless mics to actors, walks backwards with the boom mic, and designed the soundtrack into a cohesive, inspired piece. In 2009, I was recruited by a studio in Dallas to design sound for Japanese anime film and television shows like Dragon Ball Z, as well as major video games such as Borderlands II. Alongside those projects, I designed for phone apps, themed slot machines, movie trailers, radio spots, corporate convention videos…you name it.

Most recently I’ve found theater. The rush I get out of working in theater is palpable and urgent; I find it much more exciting than film. My first live mixing job was the world premiere of a locally written Dallas musical, On The Eve, in which I brought together a live band, singers, and Irish step dancers in a small, intimate space. As I continue to mix live shows, I find that my music background serves me well. Today I wrangle larger shows with high input counts and dozens of sound cues to create audio soundscapes similar to those film conventions from early in my career. My designs produce a layered, cinematic texture that allow the audience to experience the play immersively. I have found my voice in Theatrical Design.

Each space brings its own challenges and its own lessons. Each theater has different budgets, timelines, and equipment. Each cast has different levels of experience. My strength as an engineer comes from my ability to adapt, which I have learned from exposure to a multitude of challenging situations.
